Boring bio details of Randy Rare Resnick

Born Randolph Resnick in Minneapolis, Minnestota, USA in 1947.

Geek at 13: learned morse code and got a ham radio license in Seattle WA. Moved back to Minnesota in 1962 and got a guitar. Still a geek: built a TV camera from a magazine article.

Played guitar in the Treblemen (aka Jaguars) at places like the Robbinsdale Youth Center in the 60's.

Graduated St. Louis Park High, 1965. Still a geek.

Played in Minneapolis with Froggy and His Friends at the usual dances, then in the house band at the Vincent Van Gogo, the Soul Heirs. The Soul Heirs merged with the Sages and moved to The Red Baron.

Moved to California and played with a band called Stonhenge in Orange County. Then played mostly piano in Jack, house band at the Attic in Newport Beach and Pier 11 in Costa Mesa.

Moved to Fresno to play with a band fronted by Bob Rains that was the house band at Ara's Apartments.

The following year, Ara was murdered in his club. Played in Common Ground where he met Coleman Head, Victor Conte and Freddy Roulette.

See the book by Ara's son Mark

Moved to L.A. to play with Sugarcane Harris Band with Paul Lagos and Larry Taylor. This band with the addition of Harvey Mandel became Pure Food and Drug Act. During this time, played with Freddy King at the Glendale Civic Auditorium and John Lee Hooker at the Golden Bear.

1974 Toured Europe and Asia and recorded The Lastest Edition [Polydor] with John Mayall.

Played in a band formed by Richard Greene from Seatrain (not the actor who played Robin Hood, although Greene wrote a song about Lady Marianne).

Also toured with John Klemmer.

Lee Ritenour in Guitar Player Magazine about hammering

"Randy was the first guitarist I saw who built his entire style around the technique..."

Still a geek: Joined Laserium in 1976. Was sent to Paris in 1977 to open Laserium there.

Played with John Juke Logan's Wild Childs in 1979-80. Did gigs as Johnny Stacatto with Sugarcane Harris at the Raven and the Rose.

Moved to France in 1981 and quit playing until about 1989. Played gigs in France under the name Randy Rare.

1991 began working on solo CD with Coleman Head and Larry Taylor and later Victor Conte.
